Dynamics of resilience

Introduction

This seminar asks you to identify, recognise and take on board the three fundamental dimensions of resilience, which is the ability to bounce back after suffering a major ordeal.

Content

  •        Having a “friendly ear” is essential for any manager who wants to create an atmosphere of trust where team members can talk freely and without risk about the trials they experience. The resilience process can then start in order to provide the appropriate responses to the difficulties encountered.

  •      Teams need to “share their experiences” in order to keep an open mind and avoid simplistic analyses that prevent progress. A resilient team is one that can analyse the difficulties encountered in a constructive, shared and meaningful way.

  •      The “collective intelligence” of a resilient organisation requires an open and dynamic structure. It encourages people to be flexible and agile, to experiment with new options and adjusts strategy to changing circumstances.

To mark the end of this programme, the final session of the seminar is followed by an evening at the opera so that participants may relive, at close quarters, the major challenges faced by these great figures of resilience.

The speaker

Stéphane Longeot

Stéphane Longeot is a philosopher and musicologist, as well as founder of the consultancy “Mythe & Opéra”. He has worked on how imagination structures, motivates and inspires decision-making in businesses. A guest speaker at Essec and HEC, he designs inspiring business seminars that invite participants to take the time to reflect in order to better comprehend the challenges they are confronted with using their intelligence and sensitivity. Foundational myths bear witness to the sweeping change that has occurred over the course of history. By listening to these classic stories, by drawing comparisons with the challenges we face, it’s possible to revive our imagination in order to consider, new unprecedented and stimulating opportunities.
