An invitation to metamorphosis

Introduction

The aim of the seminar

This seminar invites participants to free themselves from limiting beliefs, to dare to take unexpected positions, to risk making novel alliances… The island of the sorcerer Prospero (from Shakespeare’s The Tempest) is the place for all metamorphoses.

Content

On reaching the enchanted island, the shipwrecked crew has just been through a storm that has completely disorientated them, broken companionships and dismantled hierarchies. After arrival in this New World, some see it as an opportunity to continue the relationships of domination of before, others seize the moment to dream of a new golden age. However, instead, Prospero invites them to experience a profound transformation. His aim is to put play and life back into this little band of men in order to make them face up to their shortfalls, take advantage of novel and stimulating encounters and to dare to reinvent together.

Nevertheless, the sorcerer understands that this metamorphosis can only be achieved if he himself gets involved in the process. Prospero forgives the enemies of yesterday… and gives up magic in order to create a fellowship with his own. There is no better homage to the power of metamorphosis: O Brave new world!

The speaker

Stéphane Longeot

Stéphane Longeot is a philosopher and musicologist, as well as founder of the consultancy “Mythe & Opéra”. He has worked on how imagination structures, motivates and inspires decision-making in businesses. A guest speaker at Essec and HEC, he designs inspiring business seminars that invite participants to take the time to reflect in order to better comprehend the challenges they are confronted with using their intelligence and sensitivity. Foundational myths bear witness to the sweeping change that has occurred over the course of history. By listening to these classic stories, by drawing comparisons with the challenges we face, it’s possible to revive our imagination in order to consider, new unprecedented and stimulating opportunities.
